Posted on 16/07/2008

A cargo ship was damaged this morning after colliding with an object off Albany. The Atlantic Eagle, a bulk carrier managed by Inchcape Shipping Services for the Australian Wheat Board, will spend the night anchored five miles from the coast after running aground around 10am.

Spokeswoman Tracey Jiggins said the Australian Maritime Safety Authority was not sure what the ship had hit and the situation would be reassessed in the morning.
