Fleeting sense of history

In the mood for a watery adventure, James Cook style? The Australian National Maritime Museum is looking for adventurous sea-dogs to sail its replica of Cook’s Endeavour from Sydney to Brisbane and back.

You don’t have to be an expert to join the 36 crew members who, with 16 professionals, will sail the 44m ship. The crew will sleep in hammocks, just as sailors did in Cook’s time, and will be taught 18th-century sailing techniques. Rations, however, will be a lot tastier.
