Fiji's fishing industry under serious threat

There are more claims that Fiji’s US$200 million fishing industry is now on the verge of collapse
Graeme Southwick, from the Tuna Boat Owners Association, says there are only six wholly locally-owned fishing boats left in Fiji, because the industry is being driven to the wall
He says taxes on local boat operators has pushed operating costs for a Fiji boat to at least 30 per cent higher than those of their foreign competitors.
