Brisbane muddies the waters

No matter how much the government wants the Portside cruise ship terminal at Hamilton in Brisbane(now found to be inadequate) to work, or how much makeshift effort has been spent on the disastrous use of the Fisherman Islands wharves to take super liners, the Brisbane River as a cruise ship destination is a dud.
Cunard’s announcement that it will take Brisbane off its schedule for 2009 because of inadequate facilities is a disaster. Its big new liners, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, will go to Cairns instead because Brisbane is not up to scratch.
