Scientists find new way to help avert reef coral bleaching

New research could help protect the Great Barrier Reef from mass coral bleaching.

Scientists at the University of Queensland’s Centre for Marine Science have discovered a way to use existing satellite data to analyse ocean temperatures in smaller, more specific areas.

Dr Ken Anthony says the new model can measure the temperature on reefs near the coast, giving authorities a better chance to protect them.
