Council bans Arkarra Lagoon fishing

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has banned recreational fishing at Hervey Bay’s Arkarra Lagoon in an effort to protect birds and other wildlife.

Councillor Sue Brooks says fishing never used to be allowed in the area, but in recent months people started fishing there because the ban was not clearly signed.
