Fishers warned over snapper poaching

A commercial fisherman has been fined more than $30,000 for taking snapper out of season, the South Australian government says.
A month-long annual snapper fishing closure was introduced in 2000 to ensure the long-term health of the snapper fishery.
Primary Industries and Resources SA manager Paul Tatarelli said the recent fining of a man who caught snapper during the November break should serve as a strong deterrent to other poachers.
